Welcome to Talented Tigers
Mrs Haworth
Hello my name is Mrs Haworth and I will be your teacher on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I have three children Gracie, Heidi and Toby. Gracie is 18 and has just finished her A-Levels, Heidi is 16 and has just started sixth form and Toby is 13 and is in Year 8. I also have a fluffy dog called Teddy who I love taking for walks.
During my spare time I like to read and I also go swimming several times a week.
For the last 23 years I have worked at Ryecroft and had the pleasure of getting to know so many wonderful children and their families. Most of my teaching career has been spent in Year 1 and 2 but I have experience teaching across the primary age range.
I’m looking forward to another exciting year of learning and fun in Year 1.
Mrs Hill
My name is Mrs Hill, and I am looking forward to teaching you on Thursdays and Fridays.
When I'm not at school, I spend most of my time chasing after my two energetic little boys, Louie, who is 3, and Finn, who is 1. I love going on family holidays, and I'm happiest when we're spending time at the beach.
I have worked at Ryecroft for most of my teaching career and have taught across all year groups. I especially enjoy teaching Year 1, where we have lots of exciting topics to explore and wonderful places to discover together.
I can't wait to meet you all in September and begin our exciting Year 1 journey together!

Autumn Term 1
Hello and welcome to Talented Tigers. The children really enjoyed their three transition days and we are looking forward to fun filled year of learning starting in September.
When we return after the summer holidays our theme focus is ‘Around the World in 35 days’. We will be reading a variety of books to support and stimulate our writing such as ‘Mr Elephants Rio Tour’ and ‘Paddington and non- fiction texts about Islam. In our writing we will continue to focus in dictated sentences with a focus on using the correct letter formation.
In maths this half term we will spend most of the half term focussing on counting, number recognition and composition of numbers. We will then move onto finding one mor and one less.
In our theme learning we will be exploring a range of artwork including drawing Islamic Art. In geography we will go on a tour with ‘Ryecroft Bear’. We will visit countries including Brazil, Pakistan and the continents Antarctica and Australia. The children will look at identifying different places on a map of the world and will also identify physical and human features.
We hope you have a fantastic summer break and we look forward to seeing you in September.

Our Classroom
There is a designated area to store water bottles by the sink to ensure that children can have a drink throughout the day. We ask that you only provide water in your child’s bottle to help keep them hydrated.
Children will receive homework on a Friday. Homework will consist of Maths, phonics and spellings. Please return homework in the homework bag by Wednesday. Spellings are tested on a Friday.
PE will be on a Tuesday with Mr Rocket. On a Tuesday children can come to school dressed in their PE kit. We will also have another PE lesson (day tbc), children need to have a PE kit that can be stored on their peg all week. This should consist of a white t-shirt, black shorts, joggers or leggings. Please make sure that all items are clearly labelled and kept in a labelled bag. Earrings should be removed on these days and long hair needs to be tied back.
Children need to bring a bookbag to school every day. Children will have 3 books in their book bag that will include a phonics book, a bookbag book and a reading for enjoyment book. Books are changed on a Friday. Some children may read more than once a week with different staff. Remember to read at home and write in their home school diary to take part in our reading race.
