English
English has an essential place in education and in society. A high-quality education in English will teach pupils to speak and write fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others and through their reading and listening, others can communicate with them. Literature, especially, plays a key role in such development.
Statutory Word Lists
Below are the statutory word lists for Key Stage One (common exception words), as outlined in the National Curriculum. Children learn the words as part of their English lessons. Each week, they complete a test to ensure they are confident in using and applying these words securely.
