Welcome to Class 2
Hello, my name is Mrs Wright and I will be your teacher in Year 2. I have a little boy called Alex, who is 1 year old. He keeps me very busy when I’m not at school. I enjoy spending a lot of time with my family going to different places. One of our favourite places to visit is the zoo to see all the different animals. I also enjoy swimming and I love to read before I go to sleep. I have been a teacher at Ryecroft for 9 years where I have spent time teaching in both Year 1 and Year 2. I am really looking forward to getting to know you all and I hope you are looking forward to the year ahead. We are going to have a fantastic year!
Mrs Jones
Hello my name is Mrs Jones and I will be the cover supervisor in Class 2. I have two beautiful daughters Hannah and Rebekah. I also have a crazy house rabbit called Black Jack and three little gerbils. In my spare time, I enjoy spending it with my family and visiting different places. I am really looking forward to the year ahead so I can get to know everybody and help you with your learning.
Autumn Term 2
We have had a fantastic first half term. The children have enjoyed learning about different places and enjoyed learning about different places around the world.
Next half term we will be focusing our learning on Remembrance. We will be looking at a variety of things including why people buy poppies? In Design and Technology, we will be making army vehicles so if you do have any spare cardboard boxes (Shoes boxes and cereal boxes are ideal) please send them into school.
We will also be learning about the area of Rawmarsh including our school in our mini theme called ‘128 years and counting’. We will be looking into the history of the area and how things have changed.
In writing, we will be continuing to learn about making our writing more interesting by using adjectives to describe and adverbs to say how, where or when something has happened. We will continue to use a range of conjunctions to join our sentences together
Our Classroom
There is a designated area to store water bottles to ensure that children can have a drink throughout the day. We ask that you only provide water in your child’s bottle to help keep them hydrated.
Children will receive homework on a Friday. Homework will consist of Maths and spellings. Please return homework in the homework bag by Wednesday. Spellings are tested on a Friday.
PE days will be on a Tuesday and Thursday. On a Tuesday children can come to school in their PE kit. However for our Thursday PE lesson, children need to have a PE kit that can be stored on their peg all week. This should consist of a white t-shirt, black shorts, joggers or leggings. Please make sure that all items are clearly labelled and kept in a labelled bag. Earrings should be removed on these days and long hair needs to be tied back.
Children need to bring a bookbag to school everyday. Children will have 3 books in their book bag that will include a phonics book, a bookbag book and a reading for enjoyment book. Books are changed on a Friday. Some children may read more than once a week with different staff. Remember to read at home and write in their home school diary to take part in our reading race.
