Hello! My name is Miss Horsfield and I am your class teacher.

I have been a teacher here at Ryecroft for the last 6 years and I am very much looking forward to teaching Foundation for the third year running. Outside of school, I love going out on walks with the family dog (Holly), and I also enjoy reading and listening to music in my own time. During the school holidays I like to spend some time in France with my family and eat lots of French desserts. I am looking forward to September and getting to know more about you!

My name is Miss Newsam and I am the teaching assistant in Class 5. I have worked at Ryecroft since 2017 and this is my fifth year working in Foundation. I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy shopping and spending time in the gym. 

Autumn Term 2

We have had a fantastic first half term at school and have learnt lots of new and interesting things. We have made many friends and are getting to know the school rules and routines. We have all settled in well and are looking forward to another exciting half term.

Next half term we have a fun packed topic called, “Let The World Hear You Roar!” The children will be learning all about Dinosaurs and this theme will form the basis of a lot of our learning.

The children will be reading stories such as ‘Harry & His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs,’ and creating our own stories such as ‘We’re Going On A Dinosaur Hunt.’ This half term the children will continue to practise hearing initial sounds in words and labelling different pictures. We then will move on to writing words and building up to writing simple sentences.

In Mathematics we will be learning the composition of numbers up to 5 and exploring 2D shapes in our learning environment. The children will also be exploring the concept of finding one more and one less of a number up to 5.
