Welcome to Curious Caterpillars

Mrs Sinclair

Hello, my name is Mrs Sinclair and I will be your teacher in Foundation in September.

I have a little girl called Connie, who is 7 years old. We like to go on fun day's out to the farm, cinema and enjoy swimming too.

I have taught at Ryecroft Infant School for many years and currently work within the Foundation Stage. I am really looking forward to seeing the huge amounts of progress the children make. I can't wait to get to know you all and support you on your learning journey.

Curious Caterpillars

Autumn Term 2

This half term it has been wonderful to get to know all the children and to see them enjoy exploring their new environment, making new friends and following new routines.

Next half term our theme is ‘Let the world hear you roar!’ and this is all about dinosaurs. We will read some lovely dinosaur stories such as Harry and his bucket full of dinosaurs and Romp in the swamp. We will continue to practice forming our letters correctly in different writing contexts and extend our skills to segmenting to spell CVC words.

In math’s this half term the children will continue to extend their subitising skills. We will learn to find the number one more and one less than a number and explore simple shapes within the environment, learning to name the common 2D shapes.

Following our recent phonics assessment children will move into smaller groups after the half term holiday based on the sounds they know and their ability to blend simple words. Children will either continue to have sound practice homework or they will bring home a sound blending book / ditty sheet to practice sound recognition and read simple captions.

We will continue to have PE with Mr. Rocket on Tuesdays and all children are required to wear PE kits to school on that day. Please can book bags be brought to school every day and homework bags be returned by Wednesday.

Have a wonderful holiday

Our Classroom

There is a designated area to store water bottles to ensure that children can have a drink throughout the day. We ask that you only provide water in your child’s bottle to help keep them hydrated.

Children will receive homework on a Friday. Homework will consist of Maths and phonics. Please return homework in the homework bag by Wednesday the following week.

PE day will be on a Tuesday. On a Tuesday children can come to school in their PE kit. This should consist of a white t-shirt and black shorts or joggers. Earrings should be removed on these days and long hair needs to be tied back.

Children need to bring a bookbag to school everyday. Children will have 3 books in their book bag that will include a phonics book, a bookbag book and a reading for enjoyment book. Books are changed on a Friday. Some children may read more than once a week with different staff. Remember to read at home as often as possible and write in their home school diary to take part in our reading race.

We look forward to seeing you in September
